Ford Announces New Enhancements to the Award-Winning Ranger Line

  • In response to direct customer feedback, Ford will now offer a new leather option on all 4x2 and 4x4 XLT Double Cab variants: black leather accented seats (front and rear) and leather door trim inserts
  • The current Ranger fleet will also see enhancements, including seat design refinements for the Wildtrak, a temperature display upgrade for all models (except the XL Plus), upgraded cup holders and the removal of outer tie downs on the XLS model
  • In new vehicle sales during May, Ford Ranger was the second highest selling vehicle (4,069 units) overall and has held it’s meteoric climb to the top of the 4x4 category, outpacing close competitor Hilux for the fifth successive month

MELBOURNE, June 27, 2017 – Building on the the success of the popular Ranger nameplate, Ford is introducing several new features and upgrades for the PX MkII Ranger 2017MY range, based on direct customer and dealer feedback.

Australian teams lead the design and engineering of Ranger and its popularity continues to grow with 4,069 sales in May alone, holding a lead over Toyota Hilux in overall 4x4 sales for five successive months to-date in 2017.

“Our engineers and designers have listened to what customers really want, taking their feedback and building it into an already superb range,” said Graeme Whickman, President and CEO, Ford Australia.

“The Ranger is a class-leading vehicle, one that has already won back-to-back Drive Best Ute awards in 2015 and 2016 (XLT variant), but customers can truly see that Ford is listening and aiming to produce the best vehicles possible,” added Whickman.

More luxurious seating
Ford will now offer a new leather option on all 4x2 and 4x4 XLT Double Cab variants: black leather accented seats (front and rear) and leather door trim inserts.

Comfort, design and practicality:
There are also two new upgrades to Wildtrak seating (exclusively). Thanks to rigorous testing and advice, front and rear seat design and quality has been improved to better resist staining and soiling. The seats will also have less piping and a shorter front cushion overhang to improve comfort. These upgrades come at no extra cost to the customer.

Small, but mighty updates:

  • External Temperature Display (Outside Temperature Thermometer) with Frost/Ice Warning, which was previously only available on XLT and Wildtrak, will be made standard across all variants (excluding XL Plus).
  • All models will have secure fingers added to cup holders to better secure bottles and cups.
  • All XLS models will have the outer tie down hooks removed for a sleeker appearance.

The best part? These product actions will not impact PX Ranger MkII pricing.
These product changes are relevant to select models in the PX MkII range; the updates are effective immediately.

Going Further for Australia and Australian Customers
In December 2016, Ford announced an increased Australian R&D investment to $450 million in 2017 to support increased vehicle development programs. By this year, Ford will have a nearly 2,000 person strong team in Australia, including 1750 engineers, designers and technicians.
