How do I check tyre pressure?

Checking your tyre pressures is easy. And that’s good news, because it’s also really important. If you’re not sure how to check the pressures correctly, look no further than the video below.

Note: International model shown.

What You Will Need

  • A tyre pressure gauge (digital or "pencil" style).
  • An air compressor (available at most petrol stations).

Where to Find Your Recommended Pressure

The correct pressure for your specific vehicle is listed on the Tyre Information Label. Open the driver’s door and look at the B-pillar (the vertical metal bar where the door latches).

Note: Do not use the "Max Pressure" number printed on the side of the tyre itself; always follow the number on the vehicle's sticker.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Check when "Cold": For the most accurate reading, check tyres before driving or at least three hours after the vehicle has been parked.
  2. Remove the Cap: Unscrew the valve cap from the tyre.
  3. Check the Pressure: Press the tyre gauge firmly onto the valve stem. Read the number on the gauge.
  4. Adjust: Add air if the pressure is low, or press the center pin of the valve to release air if it is too high.
  5. Secure: Replace the valve cap tightly. Repeat for all tyres, including the spare.

Note: Check your tyre pressures at least once every two weeks to ensure peak vehicle performance.
