Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]

Am I allowed to sell a Ford vehicle that’s under Active Recall?

No. The Compulsory Takata Recall Notice provides that you must not sell a vehicle that is under active recall under the Compulsory Takata Recall.

An active recall means Ford has initiated a recall action for that vehicle and commenced taking steps to contact owners of affected vehicles. You must make arrangements with Ford to have the Affected Takata Airbag Inflator/s replaced prior to selling a vehicle under active recall.

You will not be able to sell the vehicle until the replacement of the Affected Takata Airbag Inflator(s) has taken place.

Can I do the replacement myself?

No, you must not undertake the replacement of an Affected Takata Airbag Inflator yourself.

Replacements of Affected Takata Airbag Inflators must be undertaken by an authorised Ford Dealer.

To find an Authorised Ford Dealer, use our Locate a Dealer feature on the Ford website at http://www.ford.com.au/dealership/.

How much will the replacement cost?

Nothing. You can have the vehicle repaired at any Ford Dealer in Australia free of charge.

How long will the replacement take?

The replacement will take less than half a day, depending on the vehicle and the Dealer’s workshop schedule.

I have multiple affected Ford vehicles. How can I arrange for a speedy and prompt repair?

Ford recommends that you contact your nearest Ford Dealer to discuss your needs and if necessary, your local Ford Dealer can discuss with Ford any additional support needed.

Will Ford be sending servicemen to my Dealership to undertake the repairs?

No. You will need to make an appointment to have your affected vehicles repaired at an authorised Ford Dealer. If you are having difficulty or do not have a local Ford Dealer, please contact Ford Australia on 1800 503 673 to discuss your needs.
