What do I do if Android Auto will not connect to SYNC4A?

You may currently be experiencing a wired or wireless connection issue if you are using the Android Auto app with your SYNC 4A system. This is due to a recent Android Auto update to version 6.4.411714.

Wireless connection issues

  1. Delete your paired phone using SYNC.

    1. Tap the Vehicle icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.

    2. Press Settings.

    3. Tap Phone List.

    4. Select Phone. 

    5. Press Delete (waste bin icon).

  2. Perform a SYNC Module Reset.

  3. Power your phone completely off for 1-2 minutes.

  4. Power your phone back on.

  5. Connect your phone to the USB port in your vehicle to pair your phone with SYNC.

  6. Enable Android Auto. 

    1. Tap the Vehicle icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.

    2. Press Settings.

    3. Tap Android Auto Preferences.

    4. Select Enable Android Auto.

If this does not resolve the issue, continue to tether your phone with a USB port for Android Auto capabilities.

USB connection issues

If your Android phone reboots when connected to SYNC via a USB cable, update Chrome to 88.0.4324.181 or later.
