How do automatic locks work in my Ford?
Automatic door locks secure your vehicle while driving or after remote unlocking, depending on your Ford model and configuration.
Note: For the most accurate information regarding your specific model, features, and settings, your Owner’s Manual is always the best place to start.
Automatic locking
Depending on your vehicle’s model and configuration, your doors may not automatically lock when you begin driving. However, you can always use the master lock button, typically located on the driver door or centre console, to manually lock or unlock all doors at once.
Automatic relocking
As a safety and security measure, some vehicles are designed to automatically relock if you unlock the doors with the remote control but do not physically open a door within 45 seconds.
We recommend referring to the Locks section of your Owner’s Manual to learn how to adjust the settings for your specific Ford vehicle.
The doors do not lock automatically when you drive away. However, there is a master button where the driver can lock and unlock all doors. The doors automatically re-lock if you do not open a door within 45 seconds of unlocking the doors with the remote control.
