What are the Ford Anti-Theft Devices?

Passive Anti-Theft System

A passive anti-theft system is present in every Ford vehicle, in the form of a coded key or fob.

All keys and fobs are coded to the vehicle, and must be present for the vehicle to start. This system is armed when the car is turned off, and disarmed when the car is started again with a coded key/fob.

Active Anti-Theft Alarms

Perimeter Alarm

The perimeter alarm is a deterrent against unauthorised access to your vehicle through the doors and the hood. If the alarm is triggered, the alarm horn sounds and the hazard flasher flashes.

Interior Sensor

The sensors act as a deterrent against unauthorised intrusion by sensing any movement inside your vehicle. If the alarm is triggered, the alarm horn sounds and the hazard flasher flashes.

Integral Battery

The battery back-up sounder is an additional alarm system, which sounds a siren if your vehicle battery or the battery back-up sounder is disconnected. When you lock your vehicle the system is armed. The sounder has its own battery and will sound an alarm siren even if someone disconnects your vehicle battery or the battery back-up sounder itself.

Note: If any of these sensors are fitted and are activated, you can disarm the alarm by either;

  • Unlocking the doors or luggage compartment using the remote control
  • Unlock the doors with the key and switch the ignition on with a correctly coded key within 12 seconds

If the anti-theft alarm is triggered, the alarm horn sounds for 30 seconds and the turn signals flash for 5 minutes.

Any further attempts to carry out one of the above sounds the alarm again.
