What can I do if I am having issues with Vehicle Health Alerts in the FordPass® App?
Below are some common issues related to Vehicle Health Alerts, why they occur, and who to contact for additional help.
Common Vehicle Health Alert Issues
Select your situation from the dropdowns below for actions you can take related to Vehicle Health Alerts, Recalls, and Field Service Actions in FordPass.
Inconsistent Vehicle Health Alerts
If you see occasional flashes of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp or Warning Indicator Lamp in your vehicle, it means that there is a temporary malfunction. The type of alert will determine how long the malfunction is reported. This will be reflected in your FordPass account and in the status of your vehicle.
Important: When either indicator is triggered repeatedly, this is a serious issue and requires action. Be aware of possible concerns that can later become more serious.
- After your vehicle is started, the instrument cluster will check for any changes in the status of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp or Warning Indicator Lamp every 60 seconds.
If there is a change in the status of either indicator, a Vehicle Health Alert will be triggered and its information and Diagnostic Trouble Code will be sent to the Ford Cloud. This alert will be displayed on your FordPass account, giving you valuable information about the issue.
If you are unsure about the next steps, contact your Ford Dealer for the best assistance.
Field Service Action or Recall Not Clearing Due to Date/Mileage
Some Field Service Actions do not clear until a date/mileage interval is reached. The required interval/date will be stated in the Field Service Actions if applicable.
Completed Field Service Action or Recall is Still Listed
Field Service Actions and Recalls can also remain due to your Ford Dealer processing timelines.
- After service has been provided by your Ford Dealer, they need to file a report and claim for the Field Service Action/Recall through their internal systems.
Once the report/claim is closed, the Field Service Action/Recall will no longer appear in FordPass.
Note: It may take time for FordPass to update due to Dealer process timelines, as some file claims weekly, while others may only file monthly.
If your Dealer completed the report/claim process and the alert still appears in FordPass, contact a Guide for additional assistance.
Triggers That Prompt Vehicle Health Alerts
Sensor, wiring faults, and accidents can trigger multiple Diagnostic Trouble Codes, which will generate Vehicle Health Alerts. They will be sent to FordPass the next time your vehicle is turned on. For most vehicles, this happens when it is put in Neutral (N) and towed.
At this time, you can expect multiple Vehicle Health Alerts to appear on FordPass. Refer to the Vehicle Health Alert Visual Reference Guide for a detailed list of the alerts and meanings, where applicable. In some instances, the alert will indicate that you need to contact your Ford Dealer.
- If you are concerned about any issues regarding the alerts, contact a Guide.
- If you need additional help understanding an alert, you can contact your Ford Dealer.
