How do I troubleshoot the FordPass activation prompt not appearing on my Ford vehicle?
It is important that these instructions are followed in the below order, and no steps are skipped. You will need to have your mobile phone and access to your vehicle throughout the duration of these steps.
Delete your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) From all FordPass Accounts:
- Open the FordPass App.
- Navigate to the Vehicle screen.
- Tap Remove Vehicle.
- Once your vehicle has been removed from the FordPass App, logout of the FordPass App.
Adjust Your In-vehicle Connectivity Settings Toggle
- Before starting, ensure that you are in an area with at least two phone reception bars.
- If you do not have good reception next to your vehicle, drive to a location with at least two phone reception bars.
- Start your vehicle and leave it ON while in Park.
- Using your SYNC® screen:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select FordPass Connect Settings.
- Tap Connectivity Settings.
- Turn OFF the sliders for:
- Vehicle connectivity
- Send vehicle data
- After turning the respective sliders OFF, turn your vehicle engine OFF.
- Open your vehicle’s driver side door.
- Close your vehicle driver side door.
- Start your engine and leave it ON.
- Using your SYNC screen:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select FordPass Connect Settings.
- Tap Connectivity Settings.
- Turn ON the sliders for:
- Vehicle connectivity
- Send vehicle data
- Your vehicle’s modem will attempt to connect with the closest mobile phone carrier tower.
Note: This process will take a few minutes. Continue with the next section while your vehicle’s modem connects.
Add your vehicle to the FordPass App
- Open the FordPass App on your mobile phone.
- Log in using your FordPass username and password.
- Navigate to the Home screen.
- Tap the Plus sign + button.
- Manually enter your VIN or use your phone’s camera to scan your VIN.
- Enter your optional vehicle nickname.
Activate your vehicle in the FordPass App
- In FordPass, navigate to the Home screen.
- Tap Activate Vehicle.
- This process can take several minutes to complete.
- Look at your SYNC screen for a prompt to accept vehicle activation.
- Accept this prompt when it appears.
- If you cannot see this prompt, on your vehicle screen:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select FordPass Connect Settings.
- It may take 1-3 minutes to see the prompt on your SYNC screen.
- Once you have accepted the prompt, allow another 3 minutes for the vehicle activation to complete.
- Once your SYNC screen has confirmed vehicle activation, log out of the FordPass App.
- Log back into FordPass.
- Navigate to the Home screen.
- You should see the Remote Command buttons under your vehicle.
