Can Modifications Impact My FordPass App And Connected Vehicle From Operating Correctly?

Yes. Modifications or fitment of aftermarket products to a vehicle, particularly software plug-ins or anything that draws power from the vehicle battery, may impact operation of remote commands.

As an example, a vehicle fitted with an aftermarket PCM (Powertrain Control Module) calibration, or a plug in throttle controller may result in failure to start the vehicle remotely using the FordPass App. In circumstances where customers have contacted us with such concerns, we have found that removal of the aftermarket product may allow the vehicle Remote Start command to function correctly.

As a general reminder, modifications or fitment of aftermarket products to your vehicle will not void your Ford Express New Vehicle Warranty, however, the fitted parts, and any problems that arise from their fitment or failure, will not be covered under the Ford Express New Vehicle Warranty. Further, if such modifications or fitment of aftermarket products causes any faults or defects in your vehicle, Ford Australia will not be responsible under the Ford Express New Vehicle Warranty or the Australian Consumer Law for those faults or defects. We are unable to comment on particular aftermarket accessories and options, as we have not undertaken any testing on them, and are unable to attest to their compatibility with our vehicles.

Should you have questions on whether the operation of your vehicle’s modifications are impacting your ability to use the connected services, we recommend you contact your preferred Ford dealer for diagnosis.
