How do Ranger Raptor’s internal bypass FOX Shocks with Live Valve work?

The shock absorber is broken into zones: Top Out, Ride and Bottom Out. Within these zones the internal bypass valves actively change oil flow through the shock absorber depending on the position of the shock absorber in its travel, and the terrain the vehicle encounters, i.e., changing the damping to combat an unexpected compression moment or counter vehicle squat when accelerating. The Ranger Raptor’s shock absorbers include FOX’s race-developed Bottom Out Control which sees, in the last 25 percent of shock travel, a secondary piston enters an inner sleeve to generate additional damping force.

The ability to constantly vary damping means Ranger Raptor’s suspension can adapt in real-time to suit any terrain. Another element improving damping performance is the use of Teflon™-infused oil in the shock absorber that reduces friction by around 50 percent compared to those on the previous Ranger Raptor.
