Put heavy items at the front

If you are taking anything heavy on your trip, load it as far forward as possible and make sure it’s centred, and keep it as low and flat as possible to help with vehicle stability. Ranger has six fixed internal tie-down points, while Wildtrak models have two sliding, spring-loaded cleats that can be moved and locked into eight positions. These sliding cleats have a weight limit of 250 kg. To adjust them:

Pull the release button on the cleat to release the cleat.
Move the cleat to desired position.
Lock the cleat to the locking positions on the sliding rails. Locking positions can be identified as holes on the rails.

In addition, Wildtrak features aluminium tie down rails which can be used to attach cross bars to and these have a maximum load rating (when the weight is evenly distributed) of 40 kg and can handle up to 150kg at the lashing points.

Always use two or more tie downs when securing a load. Avoid putting heavy items on the roof as this can affect vehicle stability. The fixed tie-down points have a load limit of 125 kg between opposite points and up to 272 kg on diagonally opposite points.
