Mustang Racecar Side View

The previous Supercars prototype was built with sixth-generation Mustang body panels. Development has been led by Ford Performance Homologation Team Dick Johnson Racing, which will see the Gen3 Supercar appear at the Bathurst 1000 as the exciting new seventh-generation Mustang.

The Gen3 Mustang Supercar features a lower roofline and wider footprint that makes it much more closely aligned to the road-going Mustang. A 5.4L version of Ford’s Coyote DOHC V8 engine will be used, further aligning the race car with its road-going brethren.

The Gen3 Mustang Supercar body is further distinguished from the previous generation by a striking new livery that marries our Supercars Mustang with other Ford Performance racing vehicles such as the Mustang GT3, Mustang GT4 and NASCAR that compete around the globe.

The Gen3 Mustang Supercar will make its competitive debut in 2023 by Ford teams Dick Johnson Racing, Tickford Racing, Grove Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United and the Blanchard Racing Team.
