How to start Ford AppLink™ in your car
Getting Started
- Download and install compatible Ford AppLink™ versions of your favorite apps.
- Some may require you to register before pairing Ford AppLink™.
- Familiarize yourself with the app on your phone and understand how it works.
- To use Ford AppLink™, your phone must be paired and connected to SYNC®. See how to pair your phone here.

How to use an app hands-free
- Press the Voice button.
- Say:“MOBILE APPS”.
- Say the name of the app, e.g. “Glympse”
- Say what you want to do e.g, <Favorites>
How to access an app’s menu
- Open the app you want to use.
- Press the right arrow button on the steering wheel control to access the app menu.
- Scroll through the app’s features in the app menu.
- Press the left arrow button on the steering wheel control to exit the app menu.

Closes app on SYNC®, but not your phone. |
Note:
- If a compatible IOS app is not listed on SYNC®, open the app on your phone and connect your phone to SYNC® via an Apple-approved USB cable.
- Android users – If you close an Ford AppLink™-compatible app on your phone, you will need to say “FIND MOBILE APPS” to run this app the next time you connect to SYNC®. If you foreclose the app in the application manager on the phone, please reopen the app before you want to use it with Ford AppLink™.
- Ford AppLink™ is only available on select vehicle models.
- Ford AppLink™ is only compatible with smartphone operating systems Android 2.3 or above, and IOS 5.0 or above.
- You can make a phone call while running an app the same way you always do: press the Voice button and say either: “CALL <name of contact>” or “DIAL <number>”.
- To close an app, press the voice button and say “Close <app name>”. This does not close the app on your phone, just on SYNC®
*Operating certain parts of the SYNC® system can distract your attention away from the road, and possibly cause an accident or other serious consequence. Do not change system settings or enter data non-verbally (using your hands) while driving. Stop the vehicle in a safe and legal manner before attempting these operations. This is important since while setting up or changing some functions you might be required to distract your attention away from the road and remove your hands from the wheel.
