JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION
For over 30 years, Ford has been involved in helping to find a cure through our support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). In 1983, Ford hosted a JDRF Fundraising walk in Dearborn. In 1998, the grassroots employee initiative now known as the Ford Global Walk Team began, with Edsel B. Ford II as the corporate team chair. The event has grown dramatically over the last decade.
Ford volunteers donate significant time to leverage the Company's financial support. The Ford Global Action Team continues to raise funds globally and is committed to supporting JDRF and finding better treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes.
In 2013, Ford Australia raised over $25,000 for the cause, while Ford globally raised a staggering $3 million to fund critical JDRF research.
Ford Australia major fundraisers include:
- "Hot Rods and Hot Dogs" event
- Art and Merchandise Auction
- Ford Australia Global Walk Team
All fundraising events are coordinated by Ford employees who are supported by a Fundraising Team consisting of a member of the Ford Australia Operating Committee, departmental representatives and Ford volunteers.
Ford Motor Company is the only global sponsor of JDRF, a prestigious honour the company holds in high esteem. No other company or organisation has had a greater impact on JDRF funding than Ford.
