What Are The Electrical Connectors On Tow Bars?

The standard Trailer Towing Electrical Connector offered by Ford is the standard 12 pin socket required to connect your vehicle to most caravans, camper trailers and some boat trailers and is also compatible with a standard 7 pin flat plug, meaning you don't require 2 sockets to be installed on your vehicle.

The 12 pin connector provides the basic 7 connectors plus an additional 5 connections for powering auxiliary and special equipment on your towed trailer or caravan such as a fridge, cabin lighting, leisure battery charging and fog lamps.

The Ford plug and play tow modules and trailer wiring kits are designed to integrate with the vehicle’s electrical system and ensure the correct operation of your vehicle and any additional electrical equipment fitted to the towed trailer.

Ford also offer Ford Licensed Accessory Electrical Trailer Brake Controllers and an adaptor for 7 pin flat to 7 pin round connectors as a well.
