What Is Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection?

Using a radar sensor along with front windshield camera the system detects objects in front of the car and constantly calculates the brakes force required to avoid a collision. Depending on the distance to the object and the vehicle's own speed, the system automatically brakes the vehicle.

If the estimated braking force exceeds a given level without the driver responding, the danger of a collision is considered imminent and the system automatically reduces throttle input and applies the car’s brakes.

The vehicle detection function is operational from 5 km/h up to max vehicle speed (187km/h). The pedestrian detection and intersection assist functions are operational at speeds from 5-80km/h. To alert the driver, an additional visual alert and audio warning is provided at an appropriate time before the potential collision.
