iPod Ready

Focus includes on-board technology that allows you to play music direct from your iPod^. So you can take your music with you when you want, where you want. And you can adjust the volume using the steering column mounted audio controls*.

Usb Connectivity

The Focus Zetec includes a handy USB port that allows you to play MP3s direct from your memory stick. Using the USB port, an iPod^ can also be integrated into the Zetec's 6 disc in-dash CD audio system so that you're able to control the iPod using the on-board audio controls. It's just another way that the technology in Focus keeps you connected.

Bluetooth and Voice Control

Standard on Focus XR5 Turbo, a Bluetooth handsfree phone kit and voice control system enables the operation of Bluetooth-compatible mobile phones and the car's audio system via the driver pressing a button and issuing voice commands. The driver's commands are guided by the system issuing audio announcements or questions. This cool feature aids safety and convenience as there's no need for the driver to take their eyes off the road to access controls.

5 star ANCAP safety

Focus is big on safety. For your peace of mind, Focus has an ANCAP 5 star safety rating available on all models except Focus XR5 Turbo, and Focus CL is rated 5 stars when specified with an optional safety pack. So it’s good to know that all Focus models come with a mighty long list of safety features that look after both you and your passengers.

Intelligent Safety System

Here's how the Intelligent Safety System (ISS) operates in the event of an emergency. Crash severity sensors located around the vehicle tell the Advanced Restraints Module (ARM) which safety features to deploy, and when. Depending on the locality and severity of the accident, driver and front passenger airbags are activated and where required side airbags deploy from the front seats. The ARM will also determine if driver and front passenger pyrotechnic seatbelt buckle pretensioners are required to assist in pulling you snugly into position. The Intelligent Safety System incorporates:

Driver and front passenger airbags
Pyrotechnic seatbelt pre-tensioners (front only)
Beltminder system
Advanced Restraints Module (ARM)
Crash severity sensors
Side front airbags

Additionally, on all models except Focus CL^, you get the added benefit of side curtain airbags and Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control and Emergency Brake Assist.
Side curtain airbags, Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control and Emergency Brake Assist are available as an optional safety pack for Focus CL.

Additional Safety System

The Focus also includes many additional safety features to help keep you secure in the event of an accident. Features include energy absorbing crumple zones to reduce the force of the impact, anti-intrusion clutch and brake pedals that collapse away from the driver's legs to reduce the chance of leg injuries, and a high-strength passenger cell providing additional protection to the occupants from the force of an accident.

Focus comes in diesel

Ford recognises that climate change is a significant global challenge and we have an ongoing commitment to caring for the environment in every facet of our business, including delivering alternative fuel solutions. An efficient diesel is offered in the Focus range which is gentler on the environment than its petrol equivalent thanks to its lower emissions and carbon footprint. And the refined petrol Focus engines are also conscious of fuel economy as well as delivering on performance.

Turbo diesel efficiency

Who's most likely to go further on a tank? Ford Focus diesel, of course. In fact, the diesel Focus TDCi goes 25% further on a tank than the Toyota Corolla*.

That’s because its fuel efficiency and lower emissions compared with its petrol equivalent are just as impressive as the sporty performance. With an advanced 2.0L Duratorq turbo diesel engine, the Focus TDCi's performance and fuel efficiency will both bring a smile to your face. Though it carries only a 53 litre fuel tank, the turbo diesel Focus TDCi provides exceptional travel range. So there's less need to re-fuel and less interruption to get to your destination. With a full tank of diesel, the Focus TDCi manual has a range exceeding 900kms so you're potentially able to travel from Melbourne to Sydney without having to do a fuel stop. So not only saving you fuel costs but generating less emissions along the way. It's smart thinking and you'd expect this to come from Ford, of course.

6 speed PowerShift automatic

The optional 6 speed PowerShift automatic transmission on the diesel Focus TDCi features a dual-clutch gearbox to deliver the efficiency and dynamics of a manual with the ease of an automatic. You'll find fuel economy using PowerShift is comparable with a manual yet its performance is not compromised. In fact, with an ADR 81/01 rated diesel fuel consumption of only 5.9L/100km for the Focus TDCi with optional PowerShift, the difference over the manual Focus TDCi is only a minute 0.3L/100 kms. Now isn't that efficient?
