- Ford is investing in Australia like no other automaker with $2 billion in R&D over the past six years and even more to launch and upgrade a record number of products, including the MY2017 Ford Everest Trend Rear-wheel-drive (RWD), on sale in September.

MELBOURNE – Ford Australia is introducing smart new technology and a new variant into the large SUV market with the 2017 Everest Trend rear-wheel-drive (RWD), as it expands the award winning Everest Trend options by offering the Australian-designed and-engineered vehicle at an even more attractive price.
The announcement is another example of how Ford’s commitment to Australia continues to grow beyond billions in local R&D as it expands and upgrades its lineup, which includes the the ongoing introduction of 20 new or upgraded models by 2020.
The Everest Trend RWD boasts the road handling capability, impressive cabin space, versatility, technology and driveability of the 4WD model. The Everest Trend 4WD has received an excellent response from SUV buyers and has won numerous accolades from motoring media including Drive’s 2015 ‘Car of the Year’ and 4X4 Australia’s 2016 ‘4X4 of the Year.’
‘SUVs are the fastest-gowing segment in Australia and the Everest Trend RWD will broaden our already impressive lineup of utility vehicles even further. The Everest Trend RWD offers customers more choice than Toyota Prado, which does not offer a rear-wheel-drive variant,’ said Graeme Whickman, CEO and President, Ford of Australia.

The Everest Trend RWD will continue to be an impressively capable SUV offering the same 3.2L TDCi engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, seven seat capacity, smart features and 3,000kg towing capability## as the current Everest Trend 4WD.
Because the Everest Trend RWD also retains the same tyres and 225mm ride height as the 4WD, it is an excellent option for large SUV buyers or families who enjoy an occasional excursion offroad.
SYNC 3 on MY2017 Everest Trend and Titanium:
In an exceptional value add for customers, SYNC 3 will become standard on Everest Trend and Titanium.

Everest SUV even more family friendly with ISOFIX child seat anchorage points:
All Everest models will be upgraded with two ISOFIX child seat anchorage points.
Two sets of ISOFIX anchorage points will be added, attached to the Everest 2nd row outboard seats. These are in addition to the existing rear-of-seat tether child seat anchorage points (of which there are 5 standard in every Everest).
The inclusion of ISOFIX anchorage points enhances the appeal of Everest amongst buyers with young families as the vehicle is able to accommodate a wider range of child seats. With ISOFIX, the child seat is secured quickly and safely using a single top tether (strap) and the two ISOFIX anchors located at the base of the child seat.
