Hundreds of participants took part in the scenic Ford Otway Cycling Classic, in support of premier philanthropic organisation Give Where You Live, in Apollo Bay on Sunday.
With 400 people participating in the event, the rainforest ride met the expectations of the organisers, Give Where You Live.
The rainforest ride comprised of three courses catering to everyone from the professional to family riders – a full 140km Rainforest Circuit along Turtans Track through Lavers Hill, a 70km Lighthouse Discovery Ride to Cape Otway and back again and a 23km Waterfall Explorer return ride to Marriners Falls.
“This magnificent event has raised vital funds for the Geelong community,” Give Where You Live CEO, Bill Mithen said. “We hope all participants enjoyed the unique ride and we thank them for their contribution to alleviating disadvantage in the region.”
Participants also took advantage of free entry to the Otway Fly Treetop Walk with the 140km course, free entry to the Cape Otway Lighthouse for the 140km and 70km courses and the Waterfall Walk with the 23km ride.
Amongst the participants was Will Davison, driver for Ford Performance Racing. Will participated in the 70km ride along with twelve other members of his team.
All participants and the Apollo Bay local community greatly enjoyed the entertainment of live music, spot prizes and a barbecue during the event.
Give Where You Live would like to give recognition and sincere thanks to the naming rights sponsor, Ford Australia, the gold sponsors of the event, the TAC, Powercor Australia and in kind sponsors Ultraviolet Design, Otway Fly, Cape Otway Lightstation and Bike Safe for their immense support.
